XTP13 (HBV XAg-transactivated protein 13), also known as HsT3108, PNAS-124, PNAS-131 or C18orf21, is a 220 amino acid protein belonging to the UPF0711 family. The gene encoding XTP13 is located on human chromosome 18, which houses over 300 protein-coding genes and contains nearly 76 million bases. There are a variety of diseases associated with defects in chromosome 18-localized genes, some of which include Trisomy 18 (also known as Edwards syndrome), Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, erythropoietic protoporphyria and follicular lymphomas.Chromosome 18 is one of the 23 pairs of chromosomes in humans. People normally have two copies of this chromosome. Chromosome 18 spans about 85 million base pairs (the building material of DNA) and represents about 2.5 percent of the total DNA in cells.
