G Protein Coupled Receptor 75 (GPR75)

GPR75 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family. GPRs are cell surface receptors that activate guanine-nucleotide binding proteins upon the binding of a ligand.The full-length GPR75 sequence predicts a 540-amino acid polypeptide. The protein contains 7 transmembrane spanning regions characteristic of GPRs. Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected an approximately 7-kb transcript at high levels in brain and spinal cord and at detectable levels in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). In situ hybridization of adult eye sections localized GPR75 transcripts only to the perivascular cells, surrounding retinal arterioles, in the ganglion cell/nerve fiber layer.
