Adenosine Deaminase, tRNA Specific 2 (ADAT2)
Английские синонимы
TAD2; DEADC1; Deaminase Domain Containing 1; tRNA-specific adenosine-34 deaminase subunit ADAT2
ADAT2 is a member of the ADAR (adenosine deaminase acting on RNA) family. Using site-specific adenosine modification, proteins encoded by these genes participate in the pre-mRNA editing of nuclear transcripts. The mammalian RNA-specific adenosine deaminases (ADARs) constitute a family of sequence-related proteins involved in pre-mRNA editing of nuclear transcripts through site-specific adenosine modification. Maas et al. (1999) identified and characterized a human ADAR-related protein that specifically deaminates adenosine-37 to inosine in eukaryotic tRNA(ala). Adenosine deaminase (also known as ADA) is an enzyme (EC 3.5.4.4) involved in purine metabolism. It is needed for the breakdown of adenosine from food and for the turnover of nucleic acids in tissues.
