Endonuclease/Exonuclease/Phosphatase Family Domain Containing Protein 1 (EEPD1)
Endonuclease/Exonuclease/phosphatase family is a structural domain found in the large family of proteins including magnesium dependent endonucleases and many phosphatases involved in intracellular signaling.A novel protein that mediates etoposide reistance, termed EEPD1. it co-localizes with gamma-H2Ax to sites of DNA damage generated by etoposide. EEPD1 is cytoplasmic but then translocates to the nucleus after etoposide DNA damage, where it localizes to the chromatin at damaged sites. It has a conserved nuclease domain, A nuclease in these assays, perhaps cleaving off the etopside-Topo IIa complex from the ends of the damaged DNA
