Monoacylglycerol-O-acyltransferase 3 (MOGAT3)

The deduced 341-amino acid protein contains up to 5 predicted transmembrane domains and has a predicted molecular mass of 36 kD. MOGAT3 shares 49%, 44%, and 46% amino acid sequence identity to human DGAT2, MOGAT1, and MOGAT2, respectively. Fluorescence-tagged MOGAT3 expressed in COS-7 cells localized to the endoplasmic reticulum in a reticular staining pattern indistinguishable from that of calnexin .MOGAT3 mRNA is expressed almost exclusively in the digestive system, with highest expression in the ileum and lower expression in the remaining portions of the lower gastrointestinal tract and liver. MOGAT3 mRNA was not detected in the stomach, esophagus, trachea, or in any other tissues tested.
