Serine/Threonine Kinase 35 (STK35)

CLIK1, contains a serine-threonine kinase domain, with the ser-thr active site signature between amino acids 223 and 235, 4 potential nuclear localization signals, and a proline-rich region in the N terminus. The full-length sequence shared only 20 to 30% identity with known serine/threonine kinases. Northern blot analysis of human adult tissues demonstrated a 7.0-kb transcript with strong expression in testis and low expression in all other tissues tested.Transfection studies demonstrated that CLIK1 localizes predominantly to the nucleus; however, cotransfection of CLIK1 with CLP36 demonstrated redistribution of CLIK1 to the cytoplasm and into actin stress fibers, where it colocalizes with CLP36. The presence of CLIK1 disrupted the periodic staining pattern of CLP36 in these fibers.
