Threonine Synthase Like Protein 1 (THNSL1)

Donini et al. (2006) searched sequence databases to identify proteins that encode possible threonine synthases (TS) and identified 2, which they designated TSH1 and TSH2, in several species, including humans and mice. In addition to a TS-like sequence, the deduced 743-amino acid human TSH1 protein contains an N-terminal domain similar to bacterial shikimate kinase.EST database analysis indicated expression of both TSH1 and TSH2. In mouse, TSH1 transcripts are mainly seen in the brain and endocrine glands, whereas TSH2 transcripts are most abundant in the kidney and liver. Based on sequence analysis, TSH1 and TSH2 belong to a class of predicted pyridoxal-5-prime-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes.
