Thioredoxin Domain Containing Protein 11 (TXNDC11)

TXNDC11, Belongs to the protein disulfide isomerase family.Contains 2 thioredoxin domains.Widely expressed at low level. Expressed at higher level in thyroid and prostate.May act as a redox regulator involved in DUOX proteins folding. The interaction with DUOX1 and DUOX2 suggest that it belongs to a multiprotein complex constituting the thyroid H2O2 generating system. It is however not sufficient to assist DUOX1 and DUOX2 in H2O2 generation.Thioredoxinsare small disulphide-containing redox proteins that have been found in all the kingdoms of living organisms. Thioredoxin serves as a general protein disulphide oxidoreductase. It interacts with a broad range of proteins by a redox mechanism based on reversible oxidation of 2 cysteine thiol groups to a disulphide, accompanied by the transfer of 2 electrons and 2 protons.
