Nedd4 Family Interacting Protein 2 (NDFIP2)

The deduced 242-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 27.1 kD. It has 3 putative transmembrane segments in its C-terminal half, 2 putative proline-rich WW-binding motifs (PPxY), several SH2- and SH3-binding sites, and several serine and threonine phosphorylation sites. Northern blot analysis detected a 4.4-kb transcript in brain and lung and 4.4- and 2.4-kb transcripts in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney, liver, and placenta. Expression was not detected in resting peripheral blood leukocytes. Fluorescence-tagged and endogenous N4WBP5A colocalized with a Golgi marker and partly colocalized with mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum markers. Western blot analysis detected N4WBP5A at an apparent molecular mass of 29 kD.
