Gamma-Glutamyltransferase 6 (gGT6)
Английские синонимы
Glutathione hydrolase 6
GGT6 belongs to the gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT; EC 2.3.2.2) gene family. GGT is a membrane-bound extracellular enzyme that cleaves gamma-glutamyl peptide bonds in glutathione and other peptides and transfers the gamma-glutamyl moiety to acceptors. GGT is also key to glutathione homeostasis because it provides substrates for glutathione synthesis The predicted GGT6 mRNA is 2.5 kb, and the deduced protein contains 461 amino acids.GGT6 shares limited amino acid homology with GGT1. EST database analysis suggested that GGT6 expression is restricted to esophagus, trachea, kidney, bladder, adrenal gland, and intestine, as well as adrenal, colorectal, and breast carcinomas. GGT6 gene contains 3 exons and spans less than 5 kb.
