Syntabulin (SYBU)

Syntabulin/GOLSYN is part of a kinesin motor-adaptor complex that is critical for the anterograde axonal transport of active zone components and contributes to activity-dependent presynaptic assembly during neuronal development.RT-PCR ELISA detected highest expression in whole adult brain and in amygdala. Other specific adult brain regions and whole fetal brain showed moderate to high expression. Low to moderate expression was detected in lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, and ovary, with low to no expression in spleen, heart, and testis.The deduced 663-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 72 kD and shares 43% identity with syntaphilin. Western blot analysis detected syntabulin at an apparent molecular mass of 72 kD in several rat tissues, including brain, heart, liver, kidney, and testis.
