Ras Like Family 10, Member A (RASL10A)

Zucman-Rossi et al. (1996) sequenced 40 kb of DNA on a chromosome 22 cosmid and identified 2 new genes, GAR22 (GAS2L1) and RRP22. The RRP22 gene sequence predicts a 202-amino acid polypeptide, which is closely related to members of the Ras superfamily. Northern blot analysis detected a 1.4-kb mRNA expressed only in brain.GAR22-alpha protein was not detected. Imunofluorescence and colocalization experiments in COS-7 cells, demonstrated that both GAR22-beta and GAR17-beta may crosslink microfilaments and microtubules.Zucman-Rossi et al. (1996) mapped the RRP22 and GAR22 genes between the EWS and BAM22 loci on chromosome 22q12.Zucman-Rossi et al. (1996) determined that the RRP22 gene contains 3 exons.
