Sperm Flagellar Protein 2 (SPEF2)

KPL2 gene contains 43 exons and spans 197.5 kb.The deduced protein contains 1,307 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected moderate expression in brain, kidney, lung, pancreas, spleen, testis, ovary, spinal cord, fetal liver, fetal brain, and most specific brain regions examined. Little to no expression was detected in heart, liver, and skeletal muscle.This isoform contains a DUF1042 domain, which is implicated in flagella function, and a calponin homology domain in its N terminus, and an adenylate kinase (ADK) domain, an ATP/GTP-binding P-loop, 2 potential bipartite nuclear localization signals, and a calcium-binding EF-hand motif in its central region.
