Ankyrin Repeat Domain Protein 6 (ANKRD6)

The deduced 692-amino acid protein showed some homology with ankyrin (ANK1). RT-PCR ELISA detected moderate expression in ovary, with low expression in heart, whole brain, and liver, and no expression in other adult tissues or in fetal brain and liver. In specific brain regions examined, amygdala had moderate expression and all other brain regions had little to no expression.Expression of diversin in human embryonic kidney cells enhanced degradation of beta-catenin (CTNNB1), and degradation was blocked by a proteasome inhibitor. Diversin was expressed maternally in zebrafish embryos and was involved in JNK (MAPK8) activation and gastrulation movements.
