Barrier To Autointegration Factor 2 (BANF2)
Английские синонимы
C20orf179; BAF-L; BAFL; BAF2; Barrier To Autointegration Factor-Like Protein
BANF2 belongs to the BAF family. May play a role in BANF1 regulation and influence tissue-specific roles of BANF1, Expressed strongly in testis and pancreas. Also detected in brain, colon, liver, lung, ovary, placenta, prostate, small intestine, spleen and thymus. Not detected in heart, kidney and skeletal muscle.Barrier-to-autointegration factor was identified by its ability to protect retroviruses from intramolecular integration and therefore promote intermolecular integration into the host cell genome. The protein forms a homodimer which localizes to the nucleus and is specifically associated with chromosomes during mitosis. This protein binds to DNA in a non-specific manner and studies in rodents suggest that it also binds to lamina-associated polypeptide 2, a component of the nuclear lamina.
