By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2005) identified EFHA2 based on its close linkage to FGF20 .Katoh and Katoh (2005) determined that the EFAH2 gene contains 15 exons. By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2005) mapped the EFHA2 gene to chromosome 8p22 in a head-to-head orientation with the FGF20 gene. The interval between the genes is approximately 25 kb. Katoh and Katoh (2005) determined that the FGF20-EFHA2 locus and the FGF9-EFHA1 locus on chromosome 13q12.11 are paralogous regions within the human genome.  Human FGF20 gene was linked to EFHA2 gene in head-to-head manner with an interval of about 25 kb. FGF20-EFHA2 locus at human chromosome 8p22 and FGF9-EFHA1 locus at human chromosome 13q12.11 were paralogous regions (paralogons) within the human genome.
