Cupidin (CPD)

HOMER2 encodes a member of the homer family of dendritic proteins. The encoded protein may be involved in cell growth. Four transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.The cDNA for mouse Homer-2b encodes a 354-amino acid protein that is 88% identical to Homer-1a in the N terminus. A splice variant, Homer-2a, is differentiated by an 11-amino acid insertion at position 131. Homer-1b and -2b are only 22% identical in the C terminus. In situ hybridization analysis revealed that Homer-2b is expressed at high levels in hippocampus, olfactory bulb, and thalamus. Immunoblots revealed expression of Homer-2b in cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum, with moderate expression in heart, liver, and intestine, and intense expression in skeletal muscle.
