Elongation Factor Tu GTP Binding Domain Containing Protein 1 (EFTUD1)
Английские синонимы
FAM42A; RIA1; EFL1; Ribosome Assembly 1; Elongation factor-like 1
Elongation factors belong to a family of proteins that promote the GTP-dependent binding of aminoacyl tRNA to the A site of ribosomes during protein biosynthesis, and catalyse the translocation of the synthesised protein chain from the A to the P site. EFTUD1 belongs to the GTP-binding elongation factor family. Elongation factor Tu GTP binding domain containing 1 (EFTUD1) is a gene located on chromosome 15, which has two different splicing variants.Except for its GO-terms stating functions, such as GTP binding, GTPase and translational elongation factor activity, no literature is available on the gene or its function. The gene has a size of 132’544 base pairs (bp) making it the largest of target genes, and transcription variant 1 mRNA has a length of 3’685 bp.
