Erythrocyte Membrane Protein Band 4.1 Like Protein 4A (EPB41L4A)

Members of the band 4.1 protein superfamily, including EPB41L4A, are thought to regulate the interaction between the cytoskeleton and plasma membrane.The deduced 598-amino acid protein contains a tyrosine kinase phosphorylation motif flanked by band 4.1 family domains 1 and 2. NBL4 shares 87% identity with mouse Nbl4 and 25 to 30% identity with other members of the band 4.1 protein family. Northern blot analysis detected a major 2.2-kb transcript in all tissues examined, with highest expression in brain, liver, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes.the expression of NBL4 was significantly reduced in human cancer cell lines depleted of beta-catenin.
