Family With Sequence Similarity 110, Member C (FAM110C)
FAM110C contains a proline-rich region and several motifs conserved among FAM110 family members. FAM110C was predicted to localize to the nucleus, despite the absence of a distinct nuclear localization signal. Northern blot analysis detected a 4.4-kb transcript that was predominantly expressed in testis, trachea, thyroid, stomach, and adrenal gland.FAM110C localized to microtubules and induced morphologic changes in transfected cells, probably due to disorganization of the microtubule cytoskeleton. All 3 FAM110 proteins colocalized with CSPP1 at the microtubule-organizing center at interphase and at aberrant mitotic spindles, induced by CSPP1 expression, in mitosis.
