Family With Sequence Similarity 120, Member B (FAM120B)

The deduced 910-amino acid FAM120B protein contains N- and C-terminal domains that share high sequence similarity with corresponding domains in FAM120C. The 2 domains are separated by a region containing 9 tandem copies of an imperfect 24-amino acid repeat. The N-terminal domain contains 3 transmembrane segments, and the C-terminal domain contains 2 transmembrane segments. RT-PCR detected FAM120B expression in all tissues examined.Ccpg coactivated PPARG in PPAR response element reporter assays, and the Ccpg N terminus augmented PPARG transactivation, whereas the Ccpg C terminus repressed PPARG activity. Ccpg also bound to retinoic X receptor-alpha (RXRA) and estrogen receptor-alpha (ESR1) independent of their ligands, but not to thyroid hormone receptor-beta (THRB).
