GRIP And Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 1 (GCC1)

GCC1 is a peripheral membrane protein. It is sensitive to brefeldin A. This encoded protein contains a GRIP domain which is thought to be used in targeting. It may play a role in the organization of trans-Golgi network subcompartment involved with membrane transport.The deduced 775-amino acid GCC88 protein has a calculated molecular mass of 88 kD. Both endogenous and fluorescence-tagged GCC88 and GCC185 localized to the trans-Golgi network, and this localization required a functional GRIP domain. Brefeldin A treatment indicated that both GCC88 and GCC185 are peripheral membrane Golgi proteins. Western blot analysis of HeLa cell extracts detected endogenous GCC88 at an apparent molecular mass of 105 kD.
