Leucine Rich Repeat And Calponin Homology Domain Containing Protein 1 (LRCH1)

By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated brain cDNA library, Nagase et al. (1999) cloned LRCH1, which they called KIAA1016. The deduced protein contains 793 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected highest expression of LRCH1 in cerebellum, lower expression in amygdala, spinal cord, ovary, and kidney, and very low expression in all other tissues and specific brain regions examined.By radiation hybrid analysis, Nagase et al. (1999) mapped the LRCH1 gene to chromosome 13. Spector et al. (2006) stated that the LRCH1 gene maps to 13q14.Spector et al. (2006) showed that LRCH1 expression in human chondrosarcoma cell lines exposed to inflammatory stimuli was not upregulated or overexpressed, suggesting a possible structural role for the protein.
