MARCH10 is a member of the MARCH family of membrane-bound E3 ubiquitin ligases. MARCH enzymes add ubiquitin to target lysines in substrate proteins, thereby signaling their vesicular transport between membrane compartments . Hartz (2010) mapped the MARCH10 gene to chromosome 17q23.2 based on an alignment of the MARCH10 sequence with the genomic sequence (GRCh37).Degradation involves covalent binding of ubiquitin to the protein to be degraded, through isopeptide bonds from the C-terminal glycine residue to the epsilon-amino groups of lysyl side chains. Presumably, the function of ubiquitin is to label the protein for disposal by intracellular proteases.
