Neuroblastoma Derived Secretory Protein (NDSP)

Using cDNA microarray analysis, Vasudevan et al. (2004) identified an EST that was overexpressed in high-risk neuroblastoma and that correlated with a candidate gene designated neuroblastoma-derived secretory protein (NDSP). NDSP encodes a deduced 167-amino acid protein. Vasudevan et al (2004) found that NDSP was expressed in neuroblastoma, retinoblastoma, and neuroepithelioma, but not in any normal human tissues or 10 other cancer types tested. Vasudevan et al. (2007) showed that NDSP was significantly overexpressed in 96% of neuroblastoma cell lines compared with other cancers.Vasudevan et al. (2004) stated that the NDSP gene maps to chromosome 1q24.3.
