Non SMC Element 4 Homolog A (NSMCE4A)

Hu et al. (2005) identified NSMCE4A, which is the human ortholog of S. cerevisiae Nse4. The deduced 385-amino acid protein shares 22% similarity with yeast Nse4. Hu et al. (2005) showed that S. cerevisiae Nse4 mutants exhibited growth arrest occurring after S phase and prior to mitosis in a Rad24 checkpoint-dependent manner, and displayed genome instability and sensitivity to DNA damage agents.Hu et al.
