Polycomb Group Ring Finger Protein 5 (PCGF5)

PCGF5 is expressed at high level, 2.9 times the average gene in this release. PCGF5contains 15 different gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 11 different mRNAs, 8 alternatively spliced variants and 3 unspliced forms. There are 4 probable alternative promotors, 4 non overlapping alternative last exons and 7 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 5""" end, truncation of the 3""" end, presence or absence of 2 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries. PCGF5 has been proposed to participate in a process (regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent). Proteins are expected to have molecular functions (metal ion binding, protein binding, zinc ion binding) and to localize in various compartments (centrosome, nucleus).
