RAB11 Family Interacting Protein 3 (RAB11FIP3)

RAB11FIP3 contains a putative C-terminal ezrin-radixin-moesin (ERM) motif and a C-terminal 18-amino acid amphipathic alpha helix that serves as the RAB11-binding domain. Other than in the RAB11-binding domains, RAB11FIP2 and rabbit Rab11fip1 share no significant identity. RAB11FIP3 is one of many proteins that interact with and regulate Rab GTPases. The deduced protein contains 756 amino acids. RT-PCR analysis detected high expression of RAB11FIP3 in all tissues examined except spleen, which showed low expression.The deduced protein contains an N-terminal proline-rich region and 2 EF-hand motifs. Fluorescence-tagged eferin showed a predominantly perinuclear staining pattern in transfected normal rat kidney cells and localized to the apical pole in transfected canine kidney cells.
