Transducin Like Enhancer Of Split 4 (TLE4)

Enhancer of split is a complex locus composed of several genetically related transcription factors implicated in cell fate decision and boundary formation. Sequence analysis predicted that the TLE4 protein contains SP and WD40 domains. Northern blot analysis detected a major 5.1- and a minor 2.8-kb TLE4 transcript predominantly in brain and muscle.The predicted TLE4 protein contains 787 amino acids. RT-PCR analysis detected TLE4 expression in all tissues tested, with highest expression in brain, particularly in the caudate nucleus.The TLE4 transcripts were approximately 4.4 and 3.4 kb. The QD transcripts were restricted to pro- and pre-B-cell lines. Immunocytochemical analysis demonstrated punctate nuclear TLE4 expression in pro-, pre-, and mature B-cell lines.
