Zinc Finger, C4H2 Domain Containing Protein (ZC4H2)

ZC4H2 contains a C4H2-type zinc finger and is thought to be involved in zinc ion binding. There are 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.Zinc finger (Znf) domains are relatively small protein motifs which contain multiple finger-like protrusions that make tandem contacts with their target molecule. Some of these domains bind zinc, but many do not; instead binding other metals such as iron, or no metal at all. This entry represents a family of proteins which appears to have a highly conserved zinc finger domain at the C-terminal end, described as -C-X2-CH-X3-H-X5-C-X2-C-. The structure is predicted to contain a coiled coil. Members of this family are annotated as being tumour-associated antigen HCA127 in humans, but this could not be confirmed.
