Zinc Finger Protein 354A (ZNF354A)

The predicted Kid1 amino acid sequence contains Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) A and B domains in the N terminus and Kruppel-type zinc finger motifs in the C terminus.The Kid1 protein also contains a PEST sequence, which is a feature of proteins with short halflives. Because of its unique expression pattern and its ability to regulate transcription, Kid1 is thought to play an important role in regulating renal genes in the rat. The deduced 605-amino acid sequence shows 86.0% and 87.2% identity (91.6% and 92.8% similarity) to those of rat Kid1 and mouse Tcf17, respectively. In contrast to rat Kid1, TCF17 is expressed ubiquitously, including in kidney; all human tissues examined contained a major 2.6-kb transcript and a minor 4.3-kb transcript.
